The Meters - Tippi Toes

Over at Undercover Black Man's blog he had a recent post on Tiny Tim, the remarkable showbiz phenomenon. (I didn't say good, I said remarkable. But I didn't say bad, either.) That reminded me of this song by the Meters. Cultural cross-fertilization can yield surprising results.

You know what? Even after you explained it to me, I still can't hear the shadow of Tiny Tim on this track.

Funky as hell, though.

There's a bridge to the song that occurs twice, at about 0:40 and about 1:20, where the most prominent element is some organ swooshes. Listen very carefully to the guitar part then. Leo Nocentelli is playing on muted strings the melody line that goes with the lyrics, "Tiptoe through the window/By the window, that is where I'll be."
